Rail Infrastructure

With a number of industry innovations and achievements, CTA are known as an industry leader when it comes to AS1428 compliance in the rail sector.

CTA Rail - DDA Compliant Installations

For nearly 20 years, CTA have been providing DDA Compliance to railway stations across the country

CTA were commissioned to provide Transport New South Wales with a number of station upgrades which required the development of a custom tactile indicator with the intention of improving public access & safety.

In collaboration with Transport New South Wales, we developed the Sky Blue Austact Tactile indicator. The product was a major success and the Sky Blue tactile indicator has now been adopted by Sydney trains for use on all railway station with asphalt platforms throughout Metro Sydney & NSW.

Closing The Gap On Installation Downtime

paving the way for the TGSI industry

CTA Group have always focused on delivering outstanding results through industry leading innovation.

In March 2021 CTA Group smashed through a long standing frontier, achieving what most considered to be physically impossible.

With a fleet of purpose engineered Tri-Quad Drill Rigs and a team of experienced installers, CTA completed a DDA compliance upgrade on two full size railway platforms at Regent Park Railway Station on Sydney’s inner-west corridor, in under 16 hours.

This incredible feat was only made possible through CTA’s continued investment into DDA compliant machinery, namely the Tri-Quad Drill Rig.

This heralds a significant achievement in the industry, making Tactile Ground Surface Indicator (TGSI) installation convenient for rail operators by delivering significant savings in downtime and protection costs.

Austact® TGSI's Using New Generation Engineering Grade Polymer

The Pinnacle Of Rail DDA Compliance

The demands made on plastic TGSIs, particularly those destined for public transport applications where they are subjected to extreme traffic conditions, are growing ever more rigorous.

For these applications, we make use of New Generation Engineering Grade Polymers, drawing on their excellent properties, such as: abrasion resistance, flexibility, chemical resistance and extreme UV stability.

CTA’s Austact® Lock Stud range of tactile indicators are manufactured from a UV resistant, engineering grade plastic that exhibits long life, extreme tensile strength and the highest abrasion/wear resistance of any other polymer.

In combination with this purposeful material selection, the Austact® Lock Stud has a patented spigot design, that locks out moisture and provides exceptional vertical pull-out strength, in excess of 80kgs, all without the need for adhesive.

The textured surface of the Austact® Lock Stud also provides an R11/P5 slip resistance for the life of the product, making it suitable for internal as well as external high traffic applications.

Defining Industry Standards

Transforming nSW Rail WIth our Custom Developed TGSI

When CTA first began designing tactile products in 2004, we recognised the importance of luminance contrast and invested in the capacity to deliver a product that also provides superior luminance contrast for use in commercial buildings, as well as in high traffic applications such as railway stations.

Nowadays, architects, builders and specifiers rely on our ability to not only measure and compare the luminosity of surfaces but also to develop products with very specific luminance values.

Recently, in collaboration with Transport New South Wales, CTA developed the Sky Blue Austact Tactile indicator for use at 4 railway stations, including: Glenbrook and Kingswood (Western & Blue Mountain Lines), North Strathfield platform 1 & 2 (Northern Line), and Liverpool Railway Station platform 1 (Southern Line). This product has now been adopted by Sydney Trains for use on all railway stations with asphalt platforms throughout Metropolitan Sydney & NSW.

Both Sydney Trains and Transport NSW have heralded this achievement as a significant milestone, delivering improved public access and a safer network.

As a specialist in the industry, CTA has the capacity to measure luminance contrast and provide a conformance guarantee, as well as the expert knowledge to develop products where necessary to meet specific requirements.
